Transformative. It’s the word developers are using to describe how the Tryon Place mixed-use development will affect the Uptown area of Charlotte, NC, and the city’s skyline. Of course, anytime you build an office tower and an adjacent hotel -- spanning a tad over 1 million square feet -- you’re bound to make a big impact.
The more than $300 million project is slated to be finished in 2018. As residents of the Queen City await the arrival of Tryon Place, we decided to calculate how many other structures, such as the Duke Mansion or the NASCAR Hall of Fame, could be squeezed into the office tower and hotel based on their square footage. The results of our mathematical genius appear in the infographic below.
