Rodents and Roaches (and Other Household Hassles) in Dallas-Fort Worth [Infographic]

Thousands of residents of the Dallas-Fort Worth, TX, metro area are pestered by rodents and roaches.

According to the 2015 American Housing Survey, released in January 2017 by the U.S. Census Bureau, 114,800 households in the Dallas-Fort Worth area had spotted signs of mice or rats in the previous 12 months. That’s 4.7 percent of homes -- including houses, apartments and condos -- in the region.

Another type of nuisance -- the cockroach -- was seen in 389,900 households, or 15.8 percent of homes in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, the Census Bureau says.

Overall, the Census Bureau survey logged reports of mice, rats, cockroaches and other household headaches in 25 major metro areas. Philadelphia, PA, led the pack for mice and rats inside the home (17.7 percent), and New Orleans, LA, was No. 1 for cockroaches inside the home (42.1 percent).
