Landscaping in Vancouver never takes a break, rain or shine. Here’s what tasks you should tackle in each season.
Spring
- Lawn Care: Mow weekly starting in March.
- Planting: Start planting after the last frost in April. The rain will help roots establish.
- Shrub Pruning: Prune plants while they’re dormant. Prune flowering shrubs after they’ve bloomed.
- Hardscaping: Get your patio, porch, or other hardscape installed or repaired.
- Mulch: Apply once the weather starts warming up but before the dry season.
- Irrigation: Vancouver’s watering restrictions start on May 1.
Summer
- Lawn Care: Keep mowing if you water your lawn, but stop if your grass turns brown and goes dormant.
- Fencing: Paint and stain fences.
- Irrigation: Follow the watering restrictions from before.
Fall
- Lawn Care: Mow weekly through November or until the first frost.
